Revitalize your Executive Resume Today!

by Kim on September 8, 2015

Every year, it seems that Labor Day is suddenly upon us, and then summer seems just as suddenly over. However, this is also a time of hope and renewal, at least for the hundreds of thousands of kids who head back to school, excited about their new school supplies, seeing old friends and meeting new ones.

This is also a GREAT time of year to make sure that your executive resume is up to date, refreshed or entirely rewritten to take advantage of some of the “good” news out on the employment front. Recently it was announced that the U.S. unemployment rate is at a seven year low and that the number of job gains in July was revised up to 245,000 from 215,000. This is good news, especially for those who have remained unemployed for long periods of time, and also exciting for those who are looking to make their next career jump into a more responsible, lucrative position.

The summer was a time for relaxation and vacations for some, while others still toiled away at a job search, dismayed that they were not getting interviews or generating interest (which needs to be addressed and questioned as to why?). Granted, while lazing away the summer days, it can be tough to go all in on a job search, however, it is now a good time to ramp up your search and get excited about new opportunities, much as children returning to school do.

Whether you have been searching for a while or just sense the need to put out some feelers, you might want to revisit your executive resume, especially if it’s been a while since it’s been reviewed and/or updated. If you’ve been using the same resume for years, with little success, or even if it has worked, you need to make sure it conveys your most recent successes. There are going to be more job seekers out there based on the positive job outlook, so competition is something you still need to take into account. It’s not unusual for one job posting to prompt hundreds of resume submissions…how will yours measure up?

For nearly 20 years, I have always offered free, confidential and honest executive resume reviews. If your resume needs just a bit of tweaking or if it needs a complete rewrite, I will let you know exactly how I can help (or not). It is always wise to get the opinion of an experienced professional, especially one who does not hard-sell her services.

Please feel free to contact me so we can evaluate the projected success of your executive resume. Happy Fall!
